Visit from Shriti Vadera
Speakers For Schools’ Shriti Vadera visits Stratford School.
Stratford upon Avon School was honoured to have Shriti Vadera come to talk to students recently as part of the Speakers for Schools initiative. Speaking from the heart she shared her experience and passions that have guided her over her impressive career as well as discussing the future of green enterprise and careers with respect to the challenges facing young people today.
The talk was in an informal question and answer format with Shriti being questioned by Stratford School’s Eco club before the questions were opened up to the audience. The questions covered not only green energy policies and direction but the practicalities of how students may get involved in affecting change themselves as well as how to consider ‘greening’ existing jobs as well as creating new ones. Shriti spoke about the RSC which she recently became Chair of and how they are piloting low emissions productions and tours. She also spoke about her belief in the importance of creating a global carbon price to address the costs our current behaviours will inflict on future generations.
Headteacher Neil Wallace said, “We are grateful to Shriti for coming to the school today and sharing her experience and insights, we are also grateful to Speakers for Schools for having created the opportunity for our students. As well as discussing environmental issues, it was encouraging hearing her emphasise the importance of commitment, initiative and following your passions. The current geopolitical situation will clearly impact green considerations going forward and her talk was both timely and thought provoking. She certainly gave the audience plenty of food for thought.”
