Uniform

Our students are expected to be excellent ambassadors for the school both in behaviour and in appearance.  Students are expected at all times to wear full school uniform.  All Year 7-11 students are expected to wear their blazer every day, including on days when they wear their full PE kit. Any student not appropriately dressed may be isolated and/or provided with a basic standard, compliant uniform for the day from the school supplies, in addition to further sanctions.

(You can find our uniform policy here)

Below is an example of the trouser and skirt uniform;

On days when students have PE or Dance they must come into school in their PE kit, which must be worn with a blazer. They will remain in their PE kit all day. If students do not have school PE kit, they should wear regular uniform instead, not their own alternative leisurewear.

General Uniform Information:

  • Names should be clearly marked on all garments.

  • Hairstyles and hair accessories must be discreet and appropriate for school.

  • Students are allowed to wear one piece of discrete jewellery and a small pair of stud earrings. No facial or other body piercings are allowed.

  • False nails are not permitted.

  • Make-up, if worn, should be discreet.

  • Appropriate school bags should be used, i.e. satchel or rucksack. Handbags are NOT permitted

  • All outdoor coats/hoodies/sweatshirts must be kept in student's bags whilst in the school building.

Our policy on uniform is based on the premise that school uniform:

  • plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone
  • provides a sense of pride in the school
  • identifies students of the school and engenders a sense of community and belonging
  • promotes equality amongst students
  • is practical, smart and affordable
  • is suitable for health and safety whilst engaging in practical school activities e.g. PE

The individual’s rights must be balanced against the community’s best interests. Most religious requirements will be met within the schools’ uniform policy. It is possible that individual students may have a need to make some minor adaptations on the grounds of their religion.  Adjustments made to conform to the requirement of mainstream religions e.g. head coverings are perfectly acceptable as long as this is in line with the student’s stated religion.  We will aim to satisfy the dress obligations of mainstream religious traditions only; the religion must be in line with that stated on the data checking sheet. It should be noted that the school considers trousers to be a gender neutral option. Any other requests for adjustments to the uniform requirements, including on religious or gender grounds, should be made in writing to the Headteacher by the parents.

Financial Assistance

We recognise that education places financial demands on parents and that there are some occasions when parents and carers may find it hard to meet these demands.  As the size of the school's support fund is limited, there are certain criteria that are applied in deciding whether support can be given. Details of this can be found on our Financial Assistance page. Priority will be given to families who have not previously accessed financial assistance.
